For great value over many years, I would choose Lorraines. ^
Chester is good - but pricey.
Martin House under new ownership is not good anymore.
Expensive/Romantic (just for 2) and good food/service - The Red Inn.

One is doing dinner on Friday night, the other is cooking on Saturday night. We volunteered to take care of Sunday. Almost in unison they replied, "Oh that's OK, we'll go out." They must have remembered the last time we had them over. I forgot a roast in the oven until the smoke alarm went off. By that time dinner was beyond redemption and we ordered delivery pizza.

I'm looking, therefore, for recommendations from those who have been to P'Town recently and had a dining experience other than cruising Spiritus at 2 am. Order of priority: (1) Solid, unfussy food - I particularly like "bistro" food - mussels, duck, steak frites, etc. (2) Reasonable price; bang for the buck, since we will be picking up the tab. (3) Gay or gay-friendly ambience, particularly if the location is outside Provincetown itself, Wellfleet or Truro, for example. Oh, and one of the guys, an otherwise admirable human being, really dislikes lobster.

We're not really looking for recommendations for adventure, since we'll have bikes, and are not really bar people, but if you know of something not to be missed, we'd appreciate hearing about it.
