I can't agree that an attack on an airport wouldn't have a profound effect on air travel. Just as an attack on commuter trains would add hundreds of thousands of car commuters to the mix in NY, WAS, ATL, SF, bombers in the US would affect how and where we go. I think of the lingering effect that product tampering had on Tylenol . . . and worry that a bomb in a crowded lobby would pretty much have the same effect, and then amplify every bomb threat, causing pretty much the same problems that these recent diversions create.
