I had been a 1P For 12 years in a row and due to a medical condition with my wife i only had 22,000 miles, in January I called MP and they said if I did 12,500 miles by March 1 I would get 1P. As it turned out I did got my 1P status back and went on to make 1K that year by Mid October. So they seem to want to work with you but YMMV.
