Stayed there 18 mos ago for a conference, also visited there a few months ago - feels "not so Vegas" in the sense that the casino isn't huge and you don't have to walk through it to get to your room (what I'd consider a plus). Definitely feels upscale and luxury without the over-the-top glitz and feels somewhat cozier and comfier, even though it is still quite a large hotel.
Pool area very nice - since I am a swimmer, definitely appreciate the separate 25-yd lap pool tucked away from the "wow" pool. It's all in the courtyard, but the lap pool is off to the side a bit and you can do your laps without feeling ogled.
Even though the resort is in an area that is basically a suburban commercial zone, it doesn't feel like it while you are at the resort, and you are walking distance to lots of good shopping in an outdoor plaza. And the shops are not just the Fifth Ave/Rodeo Drive type shops but also a wdier variety like REI, furniture stores, etc. I think a Whole Foods is opening nearby soon, if it isn't already open.
Overall, it feels less "faux" than Vegas on the Strip. If you want to go to the Strip it's a $25-30 cab ride. I think there may be shuttles but the hours aren't terribly convenient.
Rooms themselves nicely furnished, maybe slightly smaller than standard Bellagio rooms and furnishings not as luxurious, but nicer than Venetian.
