3/3/3 vs 2/5/2/ will be a debate that never ends! IMO, 2/5/2 is preferred if you have status w/ the operator. You're likely to secure the better window / aisle seats.
I've always wondered why not go 3/4/2 ... Is it a balance thing? If not, seems it would be of use to couples and families. Does anyone do it?
BTW, I'm pretty sure Emirates runs their 773s in
10 abreast! So, it could be much worse.
