Too bad! Does it mean KLM is abandoning Nagoya as well?
This was an useful flight for several reasons:
- usually has some seats open when KL flights to NRT and KIX are full
- relatively easy to get upgraded on (well, by KLM standards...) since nearly all passengers are non-elites travelling in tour groups, and Y is usually quite crowded, while C is empty
- I personally like the NGO airport: a 15 minute bus ride from the station, hardly any int'l departures meaning super-quick check-in, customs, and an empty lounge. Nice and compact terminal too. Getting to NGO from Kyoto by Shinkansen + bus, for instance, takes only a few minutes more than to KIX.
Of course, the stopover in Sapporo does make this flight a second choice for business travellers.
With the declining number of Europe-bound tourists and the already low front cabn revenue, it is unfortunately no wonder KLM is cutting this route.
