Having checked the CRS, QF, UA, VS & BD certainly do apply a YQ fuel surcharge tax on top of the base fare. NW/KL don't quote it in their tariffs either but add it to the base at the time the fare is calculated and only show "taxes" in cost breakdown.
Anyhow just to re-affirm (Shareholder) I have absolutely no problem with AC recouping it's operating costs + profits, none whatsoever, just do it honestly by giving the fare upfront. If oil prices go up then I expect the fares to go up also, that's life..............I'd like to know whoever came up with a "surcharge" anyhow - this was done for a reason and it clearly wasn't for customer satisfaction or relations.
Agree.
I have yet to hear anything close to a convincing reason why fuel costs are a sneaky add-on and not included in the base fare - other than "well everyone else is doing it".........
In a highly competative industry "everyone else is doing it" is often enough reason not to risk standing apart and suffer the consequences of that uniqueness.
