The only miles you will get for someone else's reservation are the credit card miles if you pay for it.
Thanks, both of you for the quick reply. Now that you've pointed out the obvious, it does seem unlikely. I think at CO - platinum folks can book tickets for travel companions that their mere mortal (non-platinum) companions could not have otherwise booked.
