OK, my own idea didn't quite work
Earlier in this thread I had posted about staying low-key and calling to change when and if a change is really necessary. Turns out I can't fly in September, so I'm trying to change eveything to 2007. My intention had been to avoid any documentation in the record and to find somebody to easily change the res.
I called AF, they sent me to Expedia. Expedia (because of the O segment) sent me back to AF. They sent me back to Expedia.
Nothing had been documented yet. The next agent at Expedia said the change would be done the next morning, I would be contacted. I suspected nothing, but ended up waiting days to get an answer to the simple question "is the change done". The answer came from a Expedia team leader who called me, and was "no". Go figure.
Finally I find out my ticket is issued on AA ticket stock. Expedia will not do anything but refund, as they require repricing. AF will not touch the ticket as it is on AA ticket stock. AA will not touch the ticket as they have documented the record after calling aF and openly tell me they fear being charged by AF and it should have never been on their ticket stock with only LAX-SFO being on AA and the longhauls being on AF. They are right, IMOP. But it's still their ticket stock.
Now, the fun part, my questions:
A) How can I "prove" to AA or AF with Iata-rules, procedures, etc that repricing is not necessary without a change of routing?
B) Can AF sticker my ticket at all? Or does it have to be done by Expedia or AA?
C) Who knows if it is true or not that AA never, ever, ever revalidates or stickers, but rather only reprices, at any type of change? This is what I am being told. I doubt that from past experiences.
D) What about this idea:I leave it as is, without changing the ticket. I take the first flight from BUD to CDG, cancelling the rest of the res in CDG and rebooking to a different date at the airport or possible smarter yet at a later time? Any ideas?
I'd love to use the ticket in 07 to get a head-start on requalifying. Thanks for all your help and thoughts.
Good news is I can give it back anytime.
