Indeed - we can't have it both ways. We may complain about the health about airlines when in bankruptcy but the flipside is, that's when fares are usually more competitive. Now that at least some are improving profitability-wise and loads are going up, the prices likely will too.
Doesn't exactly answer the OP's question, just an observation.
