The hotel is full at the moment. According to the manager there are 50-60 Golds and Diamonds at the moment that he is unable to upgrade.
This is a shame, as the rooftop lounge/pool is superb!
Our stays overlapped, but I was in exactly the same boat with not getting an upgrade. I was not happy. At least the limoncello, fruit, and champagne were still provided. On reflection about the lack of upgrade:
a) I agree with the policy to avoid lounge overcrowding
b) the 20% discount voucher considerably made up, because we could enjoy full poolside lunches at a discount rather than figuring out where to eat after an appetizer in the lounge.
Overall enjoyed the stay and helpful staff. I was happy though to get this at the old CAT 3 award rates. Looking to the future it is overrated as a CAT 6
