IB mainline is 100% happy with Spanair and Vueling, etc .. Domestic routes expansion projects .
IB mainline , Air Nostrum NOT included , no longer wants to operate peninsular domestic services and can't care less of others airlines taking care of domestic routes IB don't want .
In only 1 year, hundreds and hundreds of kilometers of new High Speed Train Lines will open to service .. the most notable Madrid-Barcelona , Madrid-Malaga , Madrid-Valladolid , etc .. at 350 Km/hour and arriving just a the CENTER of the cities .
A single AVE train has MORE capacity than an Airbus 340-600 .
RENFE is a public company and the tickets are SUBSIDIZED by not repercuting most of the cost of the infra-structure in the ticket cost .
In this scenario IB is leaving as fast as it can most of the Spanish domestic market . IB states that make a profit under this High Speed Train network expansion in Spain is not possible ,and is diverting resources specially to long-haul routes.
Additional High Speed Train routes to Valencia , Alicante , Galicia , Portugal , etc .. are already under construction .
Don't cry for IB domestic operations ...
Just look for the Iberia Strategy plan on
www.iberia.com .. it's in english also .
