As you may already know, Accor built a few hotels in Sydney in time for the 2000 Olympics. During my chat with the Accor membership salesperson, she mentioned the Novotel at the Homebush Olympic site. For anyone wanting a day out of Sydney's city, in a parklike ghost town, try the Homebush Novotel! You may get all kinds of attention if the hotel is mostly empty . Apparently it fills mainly around big sporting events or concerts, plus the Royal Easter Show.

I'm staying at a Grand Mercure this weekend, but I suppose there is no GM loyalty program, and am unsure if I'd get enough value from the paid club-card, unless it is for anniversary weekends at the Wentworth / Sofitel Sydney.

I wonder if a Sofitel membership has any usefulness at other Accor brands in Oz?

Ssorbear, you can catch a bus to Coogee beach, to do the Bondi-Coogee walk aling the coast, which would be a must-do in this glorious sunny late-winter sun!

Have a great stay, and enjoy our fresh food and extremely good value / quality red wines! Try to get along to a bar / restaurant along the city's King St Wharf, then take a harbour cruise until close to sunset
Your post makes me long for another visit to Bondi Beach...My first and only one was sooooo great.
