Thanks for the opinions. I was hoping someone could report back from experience. Not that things are guarenteed to be consistent between airports or even within the same airport.

I'm flying out of RST this weekend which is a pretty small airport. My plan is to walk up to the security checkpoint and ask the question before checking in. If it's not allowed, the it will go into my checked luggage so I have it with me for the beach. I'll report back what I find.
