Of course most planes are equipped with an APU or 2 so there is no need to run the engines or be connected to the ground power supply in order to have power. So the real question is why did BA buy some planes which are not equipped with an APU? Or is this a leased plane in some strange config? More likely the APU was broken and the flight operated without it.
