But that's my problem - where in the 'rules' does it say once you've checked in for a flight that you can't standby on an earlier flight? Or are you referring to the 'rule' that you have to see the gate agent for the earlier flight to get on the standby list? (makes a mockery of the ability to standby online in the first place?!

Hmmm....hadn't thought of that - sounds like a good solution. I assume you don't lose your check-in bonus?!
