After a couple years as a double-EQM 1P I found out last December that I had been comp'ed to 1K status (38K BIS miles, 16K bonus EQM, and they gave me 1K). I decided last week that I would try to make it to 1K this year, but I will need help. Tried to figure out how I might make 1K the old fashioned way, but it is just not possible. This is 100% liesure travel.
I booked a vacation to SGN in the first half of November. The timing was for the weather in Hanoi, for the double-EQM, and for a double-RDM offer (purchase by May 31). With that I will be at 61000 EQM or 78000 if it qualifies for double-EQM. Was a V fare so it should qualify, tho I am a bit concerned that maybe the double-EQM period won't start until after Nov 16, after the recent double-RDM offers expire (just trying to think what could go wrong, because the trip is 16672 RDMs at 1x.
So last week I booked LAX-ATL for Dec 2-3. That is 5000 EQMs at 1x, and may not qualify for 2x because it is an L fare ($161 all in after applying a $25 cert).
Also last week I went off the deep end and got a W fare, $561 all in for LAX-LHR-SFO-LAX and using two SWUs, for Thanksgiving weekend.
If all three of those trips qualify for double EQM then I will be at 110K.
But probably 105K assuming ATL won't qualify for 2x EQM. That would be ok and I could carry 5000 EQM forward to next year through that choose your own reward offer.
If SGN doesn't qualify then I don't know what I will do. If LHR doesn't qualify, then game over, because the point of the trip was for the 2 x 11000 EQM.
If there is no double-EQM offer then I will probably cancel the LHR flight and try to book an award trip for the end of the year, or maybe take the Platinum Challenge.
