The PH is better as a hotel. But I'd rather stay at the Westin in Melbourne. Both have a much better location than the Lyall, which is a bit far from the CBD or most of what I visit MEL for. The Lyall is annoyingly pretentious and pleased with itself, and while self-proclaimed 5-star it would be 3-star in most rating schemes. Really a completely different choice from a real luxury hotel like the PH or Westin, might be good if you know what you are getting into and it suits your schedule/tastes.
