I am shocked by quotes of around $300 to rent a mid-size car for 5 days next week (Thrifty, Alama, Enterprise, etc.). Do expect to pay more at BOS, than FL or CA, but nothing like this. So ought I give Priceline a tumble? Any advice how to go about it so that I don't wind up getting burned instead of coming out ahead? If I do bid successfully, then do I get the same CDW coverage with my credit card (VISA or AmEx) that I would if I were to use the card to rent directly?
