This is also how I have understood it. If the door is labeled, no need to verbally point it out. On US Express flights, they do verbally spell it out.

Re: the other OP's comments...US flight attendants never give their names that I have heard. Water of some sort is typically the only drink offered pre-departure, and if in a bottle, you are allowed to keep the bottle throughout the whole flight.
