Unions are businesses that take a percentage of every paycheck so higher pay = higher dues = more power. More importantly, their best repeat customers (supporters) are long-serving employees for whom unions negotiate annual service-based increases. The message to young employees is support the union and you will be rewarded long-term...or oppose it and bear the wrath of your elders.
