If you want to build up status with UA, consider flying through DEN. There are more UA flights per day and i've found delays less of a problem than through ORD (although nearly every delay i've experienced usually means that the outbound flight is delayed as well, so i've generally not missed a cnx). Also, no terminal changes required in DEN - i've usually connected through the same concourse.
After talking to a few UA fa's at the bar in YYC, I used one of my most charming lines: 'so, which flights get the most oversells?'. Unanimously, they all said "BOS-DEN".
