I ran across this offer today, and after searching, couldn't find anything on FT about it:
Make your summer soar with this special offer from Sovereign Bank. Open any personal checking or savings account, now through September 8th, and we'll give you a voucher for a FREE roundtrip companion airline ticket.*
Purchase your roundtrip ticket on up to 19 different airlines through our travel partner and your companion flies FREE - courtesy of Sovereign Bank.

These companion deals are usually terrible offers once you read the details, and the bank is noticeably vague on the full details of the companion cert, outside of the fact that travel must be booked through their partner. Anyone taken advantage of this promotion? I'm out of Sovereign Bank's area right now, but when I return to Connecticut I may drop by a branch and see what the real details are.
It seems that opening ANY account gets the companion cert, including the "totally free" personal checking.
