Just as a note, at least in high season (now) there is a supplement on (some?) rental cars if it is a short term -- I think mine was less than 5 days. This might be contributing to higher costs for you. Seems like some have gotten decent deals from Hertz & Budget. I rented with Thrifty and cannot recommend them due to shifty money & customer (dis)service dealings. Came out fine in the end, but they tried to pull some crap.
