That is an easy fix; I wonder why they don't do it. Really, I don't think irritating non-elites is an issue. If they don't like it, there's an easy solution: fly Continental.
Frankly, it's such an obvious thing that I expect CO to implement it soon. CO can spot--and co-opt--a good idea when it sees it.
