If you want to break your journey, consider GUM as well. Most US Carriers offer quite good rates to and from GUM, and Continental do a GUM-CNS flight on a regular basis. From CNS-BNE is an easy flight, or a leisurely drive would welcome you to sunny Queensland.

From RDU, most carriers will want you to go through IAH and HNL, or LAX and NRT, although when doing a search just now I've being provided a routing of RDU-CVG-SFO-NRT-GUM, which is one of the strangest routings I've ever seen!
