Another variation on interperpetation is taking what I have bolded literally...as in fare difference applies but they will be kind enough to waive the $100 change fee...


Travel Change Policy
Due to newly-instituted baggage restrictions which have resulted in congestion at security checkpoints, American is offering you the convenience to change your travel as shown below.

The following options apply for customers traveling to any U.S. or international destination whose tickets were issued no later than August 9, 2006:

* You may change your origination travel date to travel as late as August 31, 2006
* You may request a refund in the form of a travel voucher for nonrefundable tickets
* If you are traveling on an AAdvantage award, we will refund the miles to the applicable account with no reinstatement fee, OR allow for a change of destination (applicable co-payments are refundable)

Under this policy, no change fee will apply for changes providing that your origination travel falls between August 10 and August 31, 2006 (with certain restrictions). Additionally, the last date to make changes under this policy is August 31, 2006.
