I own at Phuket and am surprised at their response. The only rule I know about is that if you ARE married, your spouse must attend. I didn't realize you had to have a spouse.
I would email your friend's salesperson directly. I am sure they can get this worked out.
I did. The response that I got was that they were sorry, but I was invited "by mistake" as they only make their offer to married individuals. They told me they would be happy to quote me a rate for a regular stay at a hotel.
I'm certainly VERY disappointed in this property's response to me.
