Aloha and Hawaiian, who abandoned their merger attempt earlier, are reportedly trying to secure antitrust immunity on inter-island flights. These carriers are permitted to apply for immunity on inter-island routes as a result of a clause in last year's airport security bill that was inserted by Hawaii Democratic Senator Daniel Inouye.
