Here is my question. Has anyone unmarried been successful in doing this stay?
I have an acquaintance who bought there and as part of his purchase, he was able to offer up a number of free visits for others who might qualify. They state in their qualification criteria that you must be at least 35 years old and married and must meet certain income criteria jointly (with spouse) and have your spouse attend the timeshare presentation as well.
He told the sales staff upfront that I was unmarried but met the other criteria without a problem. They sent me an invitation. I booked an award to get out there and once I had my dates secured, I emailed them back to book.
When I did, they asked me for my spouses name - when I told them I was unmarried, they revoked the invitation despite knowing upfront that I was not married.
I'm probably just going to rebook to go elsewhere in Asia but was curious first if anyone had any success. I was actually extremely interested in purchasing at this property and I'm severely disappointed to see that they would discriminate against an otherwise qualified property owner based on marital status.
I own at Phuket and am surprised at their response. The only rule I know about is that if you ARE married, your spouse must attend. I didn't realize you had to have a spouse.
I would email your friend's salesperson directly. I am sure they can get this worked out.
