It would be nice to think that AA was operating along these lines, but it does seem awfully random. I have had miserable luck the last couple of years (EXP for 5 years and PLT this year) with flight cancellations and delays. Over 50% of my US to/from Europe flights have failed to even operate. Usually flying in J. I have not seen one mile in courtesy bonus the entire 20 years I've been an AAdvantage member, even to make up for putting myself up in hotels.

For a while I thought it might be tied to Special Services -- such as Admirals Club membership -- plus elite status. Now I know that not to be the case, as I've been an ADM member for 5 years running.
