In all seriousness, you raise an excellent point. It certainly seems like the majority of the population shares in the "anything to make me feel safe" mentality. If that's the case, the politicians are (rightfully) going to respond to the will of the majority. The difficult question is what do we, as a thoughtful, educated minority, do in this situation?
