There probably is some bad stuff somewhere here, considering the Pakistan-money angle. But. Is it possible that this "plot" might turn out to be 99% a bunch of teenage male fanatics with wild delusions of jihad chatting by email? And cops tapped into every message reading more into every line until Chicken Little Chertoff screams "The Sky is full of (potential) Falling airplanes? Would TSA overreact to what might be essentially no more than the outline of a fiction novel, especially right before a US election where we MUST reelect those "tough on terrorism Republicans"? Will I be called "unpatriotic" for even suggesting the possibility of such a thing?
I agree with you. Maybe the UK authorities moved "too soon," and won't have anything but a few e-mails that can't actually be shown to prove intent--thanks, GWB, for pressuring the UK to move on this one before they were ready. Or maybe this was nothing at all. It's probably somewhere in the middle: people considering a terrorist act, but not all that close to implementing it, and not entirely sure they will, either.
