As for the question about why you can't buy fluids in the "secure" area and bring them onboard, there is a very simple reason that you folks have clearly forgotten to analyze. Suppose a terrorist infiltrated a Coca-Cola bottling plant and filled a couple of bottles with "bad stuff" instead of Coke. The terrorist could then hope that his/her particular bottle was earmarked for a certain store/restaurant in the secure area of an airport. Maybe he/she could mark it with a small red "X" or something. Then, the terrorists could spend a few hours each day searching every airport for the specially marked bottle and, upon finding it, bring it aboard a plane. Have you thought about that possibility? Clearly the TSA has, and I applaud them for their foresight.
