I did notice this recently, when I had to downgrade from first because my partner's upgrade didn't come through even though mine had.

One thing I noticed was that my new Sony Walkman headphones, which I happened to have with me, stayed in the socket much better than the UA issue headphones. Maybe the headphone plugs themselves are becoming significantly worn as well as the jacks in the seats?
