Welcome here, edwardvr, and our sympathies for your situation.

You've received some top notch advice by some knowledgeable posters. It has been a while since I had to call AA with anything like that, but they have been very helpful; if you search you may find one or two instances when the system did not work. If for some reason you get a customer service agent who is unknowing, or worse, uncaring, the best policy is to hang up and call again.

Does anyone know if Delta or AA have bereavement fares that will to allow you to travel when your loved one is very ill? I could not find the answer on either website.
