It would be interersting to know when the employess was cleared. If he was cleared after he was put under surveillance, it is a serious flaw in the system.
Anybody who gets an airside pass has to go through the disclosures procedure, which takes many weeks to come through. Your background is checked for the previous 5 years and you have to account for the whole period.
I know before i got my pass, my previous employers were contacted and your criminal records (if any) are checked.
I can tell you that staff search over the past fews days has been every bit as severe as passenger search with the same restrictions applied.
After getting employed, is there any follow up background check that is systematically applied to all employees at some fixed period of time (e.g., 6 months after start date, one year after start date, five years after start date, etc.)?
