Thanks everyone for the feedback -- very accurate.

I got there at 6 am Sunday for my 7 am flight and while there were a lot of people lined up outside, I walked inside and got in the AA line and checked my bags within 10 minutes. I asked the guy outside at the back of line what he was doing, and he said he thought he was in line for AA. I was confused since I saw inside that there were only around 6 people in line but outside there were around 30 people. Anyway, one hour was enough for me although if you lined up outside, it might not be.
