Amenity Kits ... and More

Just returned from Asia (PR 102). I was prepared. My toothpaste and toiletries had been properly packed away and stowed. This was no problem, since I was expecting the amenity kit. Toothbrush, toothpaste, skin lotion, comb, etc.

There were no kits. The FAs said the kits had been taken off the plane along with numerous other items because of security concerns. Does this suggest they are worried about an inside job? I reckon that it would be hard for a passenger to bring fluid on board in an amenity kit that had already been placed on the plane by the airline. (They did have water for the 12 hr + flight, BTW.)

Also, I noticed little yellow security tapes over the edges of all the wall panels. The FAs said there was a very thorough security inspection. All the areas behind the walls (and other nooks) were inspected. The FAs told me that they are under orders to report if any of these small tapes are broken.

Is this stuff going on all over? Particular concerns about the Philippines?
