I'm reminded of a time (long ago) when I phoned Singapore Airlines from my hotel in Hong Kong to confirm an ongoing flight.
They greeted me by name!
I was astounded until they said "we have been expecting your call to check in, so you must be either Mr. B______ or Mr. F______ and we had a 50% chance of being correct." I told them they were now 100%, since Mr. F_______ was staying in the same hotel, and had asked me to confirm for him too. :>)
Guess the days of that kind of service are long gone.
