The late husband of a US Congresswoman was killed on a train by a crazy guy (terrorist?) with a gun (killed a few people).

But wait a second... Thousands of people are shot every week in crimes on the street in the US (that sounds right). Many die. Shouldn't we search people before they go on the street?

Ordinary Joe: "Officer, I'd like my home pre-departure search please."
Officer: "We'll be there in 5-6 hours."
Joe: "But I have to be at work in 1 hour."
Officer: "It's for security. Is your job more important than that?"
Joe: "I guess not. I sure do feel safer now."

There has been a terrorist bombing in the US using a light truck (OK City). Shouldn't we search all light trucks (includes SUVs, minivans, pickups, vans) on public roads?
