Does anyone know if checked baggage for which AA's optional insurance has been purchased for receives any special treatment ? Is it likely to increase the chances that it may actually show up, in one piece and un-pilfferred, at the destination ?

If it does, it might be worth purchasing a small amount of the insurance (AA site shows this as $2 per $100 of coverage) just to get AA to better handle it.
