One of the problems we had today, aside from the baggage belt shutdowns, was that we had to call the GTAA to come and throw the bags onto the belts at level 3 checkin. In the old terminal 1, that task would have been done by AC baggage guys who have an interest in getting the bags to the flights on time. The GTAA took a long time to clear the bags from the checkin piers at level 3, and they sent minimal staff to do so, so many of the bags missed their flights. At one time Piers A, B, C, D, E and F were all shut down. Sales agents were put to the task of sorting and prioritizing bags based on departure time, and that took time away from their duties at checkin. There's very little that AC can do when we rely on the GTAA to service the belts and clear the bags. Passengers were definitely ticked off when they saw their luggage pile up at the top of each pier for long periods of time.
