Calgary
- August 11 - 20th is the 2006 Calgary Fringe Festival. (Lots of off the wall performances throughout the downtown and Beltline area for nominal cost (approx $10.00 per performance).
- If you like walking shopping, coffee (Cafe Beanno on 17 and 9th Street) and restaurants (close to 100) check out the 17 Avenue (between about 14 Street and 3 Street SW and 4th Street (between about 17 Avenue and 25th Avenue SW) (Mission) areas (lots to see);
-The main gay night club is Twisted Element (around 11 Avenue and 10 Street) see also
www.twistedelement.ca
- I agree that a 1/2 to full day in or around Canmore/Banff and Lake Louise is well worth it;
- Downtown 8th Avenue SW (between about 2 Street East and 8 Street West) area is also fun for restaurants and shopping (Check out McNally Books);
- Kensington area (Kensington Road NW between 10 Street and 14 Street and 10 Street NW between Memorial Drive and 5 Avenue ) is also fun for walking around and shopping (try Higher Grounds Coffee);
-River pathways around Eau Claire (in downtown area) make for a relaxing walking area. Also Princes Island (River Cafe);
Lots of farmers-type markets in and around the city if you are interested in that kind of thing
Enjoy!
