You are play naif not to know that the politicians will take their orders in this regard to senior bureaucrats who will have been in touch with their colleagues in the UK and US to provide some degree of consistency. At the same time, you should also realize that it is August and most of the bureaucracy in just about every country is on vacation. Even the Scotland Yard lead on this case had to be called back from his summer holiday in advance of the final raids. In any case, Stockwell Day was on TV shortly after noon yesterday outlining Canada's procedures, followed this afternoon by the head of Transport Canada's appropriate department with the temporary revised policies.
[QUOTE=negotiator]Right! Try and get a drink of water in Y class when the trolly is en-route or unoccupied at the back of the cabin. My experience is on a four (4) hour plus flight, you get one (1) comp. water service in cabin. That's it![QUOTE]
I have flown in the back on numerous occasions this year and I can tell you that the water service was brought through the cabin at least four times between YYZ-YEG...twice with meals and twice again by FAs carrying glasses and bottles to fill them from. Oh yes, there was also the second drink service later in the flight where water could be received...and one can always "ring" the bell for more.
Under the circumstances, I think everyone has responded quickly and communicated effectively, including AC. In a few days, some degree of logic and sanity will return and authorities will likely permit water bottles purchased airside to be brought on board. I would still like to know what you would have done differently?
(Of course, there are always loonies like Senator Colin Kenny and the reporters who virtually demanded we must check our electronics items even though Transport Canada decided not to respond to the same degree as the authorities in the UK.]
