I suspect that the TSA web site is wrong (unfortunately, but not unexpectedly).

The news networks have been reporting this morning that shoe removal is now mandatory.

Yes, I am going to hide a detonator in my flip-flops, when I could much more easily hide it in my camera. Oops, I guess the TSA may already be rethinking allowing electronics onboard.
