Agree! Find out if the LQ property is a regular La Quinta Inn or is it branded as a La Quinta Inn & Suites. I've had pretty decent stays at the latter type property, which is usually of newer construction with indoor hallways, much better than a Holiday Inn Express in my experience.
Same here. I stayed in the a (new) La Quinta and liked it. I've stayed in a (old) HIE and hated it. It depends on the age of the property, do a look on tripadivsor as that should give you an idea of the quality of the properties you're looking at.
