Yosemite at Thanksgiving is actually a very popular idea. In fact, accomodations can be difficult to arrange. My in-laws and I made our Ahwanee reservations last November (year and a day rule). There are cancellations, so you might still be able to stay within the park (Ahwanee, Lodge, Wowona or Curry Village).
