It was Osaka-SYD. It was the continuation of a flight to Osaka form the US (JFK, I think). I think I remember that Australia and Japan canceled authority, because more than 1/2 the pax on the flight were not continuing from the US. I remember reading and hearing something about it while I was in Australia in June 1993 (via NW's LAX-SYD nonstop).
