This has allowed me to take advantage of some good saver awards on reasonably expensive flights since the extra credit card EQMs give me a buffer and I don't have to do all my flying on revenue tix to make 1P again for next year. Gives me the best of all worlds - a chance to spend some of my RDMs and still keep my status.
This might be a strategy that would work best if you don't worry about credit score...
And, the price you paid (4*$140=$560) would get you 80,000 miles/choices (20,000*4) plus the 20K EQMs. Not bad!
